AI for Good Innovate for Impact
By implementing a precise perception and early warning system to track ship trajectories, the
solution effectively prevents unauthorized intrusions into protected areas. This reduces risks to
marine life and encourages more responsible practices in maritime activity and resource usage.
Moreover, the project strengthens the overall protection of marine ecosystems by enabling 4.3 - 5G
rapid detection and response to threats impacting coastal wildlife. Through the use of intelligent
technologies, it helps minimize the negative effects of human activity on marine biodiversity
and contributes to a more sustainable balance between development and conservation.
23 Future Work
In the future, we'll boost the solution's standardization, expand its scope, and promote wide
adoption.
For standardization, we'll focus on two dimensions: technological frameworks and interface
specifications. Technologically standardized components will enhance solution reproducibility
across scenarios, enabling adaptable protection models for diverse endangered species
and habitats. Interface standardization will improve cross-vendor interoperability, fostering a
sustainable ecosystem that reduces suppliers' R&D costs for scenario-specific customization
while lowering integration barriers and procurement expenses in practical deployments.
For scope expansion, firstly, we'll explore AI and 5G-A tech applications in diverse ecosystems,
from marine protected areas to grasslands and forests. Based on standardized products, the
solution improves applicability and monitoring accuracy in complex environments through
scenario-specific tech customization, offering more precise data support for protected area
management.
Secondly, we'll promote successful cases from Xiamen Nature Reserve to national and
global wildlife conservation. Through international conferences, academic exchanges, and
collaborative projects, we'll share technological achievements and management experiences
to help more regions improve conservation efficiency and tackle global ecological challenges
together.
Lastly, we'll push for the sustainable development of related technologies. We'll strengthen
environmental impact assessments of new technologies to ensure their long-term ecological
protection suitability. And we'll align tech upgrades with actual needs to avoid over-engineering,
ensuring tech development matches conservation goals.
In short, based on this case's achievements, we'll expand cooperation through these efforts and
contribute more to wildlife protection, promoting global ecological conservation's sustainable
development.
3 Use Case Requirements
1) It is critical that the system provides 24/7 monitoring of vessel trajectories, significantly
improving conservation efficiency.
2) It is critical that monitored area is very wide with wildlife distribution increasing,
considering Rare species sightings and populations that have risen significantly.
3) It is critical that large number of vessel movements are tracked annually, reducing
collision-related animal deaths.
4) It is critical that Illegal activity detection and enforcement efficiency is improved.
