2 Use Case Description:
21 Description
Student mental issues, such as anxiety, stress and emotional fatigue, increase continuously
because academic stressors exist alongside social challenges. The ability to express emotions
through journal writing exists, but students usually miss out on interactive guidance and
continued monitoring of their progress. Lack of engaging mental well-being solutions that
respond to student requirements has emerged as an urgent necessity because mental well-
being stands as a key priority. The developers intend to build an AI journaling application that
gives students immediate emotional assistance. The application advances static journal writing
functions by performing emotional pattern evaluations and providing individualized feedback
to users. Through this app, users will gain better emotional management proficiencies to build
stronger mental health and emotional strength.. The application leverages NLP techniques
to perform multi-label emotion classification, going beyond basic sentiment analysis. It
uses fine-tuned transformer-based models such as RoBERTa and EmpathBERT, trained on a
custom corpus of student journaling samples reflecting diversity in gender, socio-economic
background, regional language, and slang. Instead of relying entirely on external datasets, the
models are validated manually using simulated real-world student scenarios to reduce cultural
and demographic bias. The system is designed to identify nuanced emotional expressions—
including sarcasm, overlapping emotions, and ambiguous phrases—common in student writing.
Over time, the AI adapts through continual learning from anonymized user input, generating
personalised affirmations, coping strategies, and mood trend insights. Data protection is
ensured through end-to-end encryption, and user authentication is safeguarded by biometric
verification (facial/fingerprint recognition). All AI decisions are made with transparency, and
clinical validation is planned in collaboration with psychologists to ensure ethical deployment
and user safety. The solution provides automated support that increases emotional self-
awareness and reduces stress by giving users timely assistance. Using this tool gives students
the ability to both think about their emotional state and manage their feelings, together with
receiving help when they need it. The app provides students with an affordable and private
emotional care platform, which helps students focus better academically while fostering their
mental wellness.
