Background
The workshop on "Reimagining Disaster Risk Reduction: The Role of Standardization and
Innovative Technologies" was successfully held on 17 October 2024 during the Indian Mobile
Congress and collocated with the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA)
in New Delhi, India. The event, co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union
(ITU), United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and United Nations Office
for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI)
gathered experts, policy-makers, and industry leaders to explore the role of standardization
and emerging technologies in enhancing disaster resilience and mitigating risks.
