4.2 Statistics
ITU’s machine learning challenges have seen an exponential increase in participation since
2020, welcoming over 8,000 participants from more than 100 countries, with developing
countries particularly well represented, as the chart below demonstrates.

The number of participants has increased four times since 2020 reaching around 8000 in the
year 2023. See the graph below:
