Résumé :

This contribution presents Senegal's experience in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for environmental protection, within the framework of Question 2/2 of ITU-D Study Group 2. It highlights the role of ICTs as a driver of the green digital transition, climate resilience and improved natural resource management.
The contribution describes the initiatives undertaken by Senegal to integrate environmental considerations into the development of digital infrastructure, in particular through the promotion of energy efficiency, the deployment of digital solutions for environmental monitoring, management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and support for early warning systems. It also highlights the importance of ensuring that telecommunication networks are developed in compliance with international standards on human exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) by building national monitoring, measurement and awareness-raising capacities.
The contribution also proposes recommendations to ITU-D for enhancing international cooperation, sharing best practices, building technical capacities in developing countries, developing guidelines on sustainable digital infrastructure and promoting innovative solutions that balance digital transformation, environmental protection and public health.
