The rapid evolution of telecommunication technologies such as broadband connectivity, fifth generation (5G) networks, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) have created new opportunities for digital transformation and workforce development. These technologies also enable innovative approaches to digital skilling and capacity building through online learning platforms and hybrid training models. India has implemented several initiatives aimed at strengthening digital skills through digital platforms and institutional training programmes. Key initiatives include the iGOT Karmayogi digital learning platform for government officials, telecom-focused digital skilling initiatives undertaken by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), and specialized training programmes conducted by the National Communications Academy - Technology (NCA-T), Ghaziabad (erstwhile NTIPRIT). This contribution highlights India's experience in using emerging telecommunication technologies to facilitate digital skilling, strengthen institutional capacity, and promote inclusive digital transformation.
