The University of Geneva's Research Lab for Digital Impact (GRL) would like to present to ITU-D Study Group 1 members the research outcomes from a compendium of use cases, as well as insights into an ongoing data collection featured in the GRL research workstream. The compendium of use cases provides relevant insights for decision-makers working on connectivity initiatives globally. Practical frameworks and findings can be shared with the Study Group to further discuss use cases.
The compendium of use cases includes eight country case studies on public-private partnerships for connectivity and discusses how governments and private partners globally are expanding digital connectivity, from models involving universal service funds and school connectivity programmes, to national broadband backbones. The survey captures the preferences of policy- and decisionmakers, as well as practitioners working on the topic of "Public-private partnerships for achieving universal school connectivity". This research is conducted as a contribution to the joint ITU/UNICEF Giga initiative, and this document provides information relevant to Question 1/1.
