Abstract :

This contribution proposes that Q6/5 initiate a separate work item, provisionally identified as L.Sup.AIA-EDC, to develop a non-normative Supplement on documenting operational energy-data coverage for AI agent tasks. An AI agent task may involve several systems and service providers whose energy records cover different operations, time intervals and resources. Users need to understand these differences before using the records together. The proposed Supplement will provide suggested record content, a documentation workflow and practical checks for documenting data sources and scopes, relating records to task operations, and identifying partial coverage, overlaps and gaps. Examples will illustrate how to document asynchronous operations and third-party services with limited data visibility. The guidance will help users explain what the available data represent and avoid treating partial data as the energy consumed by the complete task. It can be used with records obtained through different measurement or estimation methods. It will not define energy measurement, estimation or allocation methods, energy-efficiency metrics or environmental-impact assessment methods.
