Abstract :

In keeping with Government's vision on a technology - based society and digitally connected inclusive Sri Lanka, TRCSL commenced "Connect Sri Lanka" project with an objective of achieving a country wide broadband coverage, intended to ensure seamless access to digital services across the country. TRCSL provides monetary support to the telecom operators through the Telecommunications Development Charge (TDC) for the construction of telecommunication towers in unserved and underserved areas. This paper presents the project implementation, drawbacks and how the project effectively set on path to success to facilitate sustainable development and promote socio-economic growth in rural Sri Lanka.
