Abstract :

Currently, Georgian National Communications Commission (ComCom) is working on the development of comprehensive broadband mapping system. Among the key developments there is the Law of Georgia on Sharing the Telecommunication Infrastructure and Physical Infrastructure Applicable for Telecommunication Purposes, adopted in 2023 by the Government of Georgia. According to this law, the resolutions supporting implementation of the law were adopted by ComCom in June 2024, in close cooperation with the relevant stakeholders, like telecom operators, energy sector operators, regulatory and administrative authorities. Moreover, ComCom aims to build a Universal GIS Platform to integrate multiple data layers, including broadband coverage and infrastructure from ComCom and public registries. These activities, namely - the development of the SIP for Infrastructure Sharing and the broadband map are supported by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank under the Log-in Georgia Project.
