The document aims to provide the ITU membership with information on BDT's work in Emergency Telecommunications (including activities, actions, events and/or resources such as trainings, guidelines and toolkits) which has been developed or is in progress since the last ITU-D Study Group Question 3/1 meeting.
The ITU-D Study Group 1 members are invited to take note of the activities indicated as well as the resources which are available or in ongoing development that ITU has put at members' disposal to facilitate the implementation of ICT accessibility policies and strategies in their respective countries and regions. These ITU-D activities and resources also aim to contribute to ITU members' efforts in disaster risk reduction, emphasizing the critical role of ICTs all four phases of disaster management.
The ITU-D Study Group 1 members are also invited to further raise awareness and share the information received during the meeting within their work environments, as well as with their national and regional interested stakeholders. This will leverage local, national and regional knowledge and accelerate related implementation and will also contribute to jointly achieving the overarching goal of reducing disaster risks and saving lives.
