A total apparent consumption of 156 000 tons or 15 million units of EEE tracers (excluding
computing equipment) was calculated. The apparent consumption per tracer together with
the flows of WEEE managed is shown in Figure 18 (in tons) and Figure 19 (in units). Apparent
consumption trends in tons differ from the trends in product units due to differences in the
weights of the various EEE. For example, the group of large household appliances (refrigerators,
washing machines, dryers and air conditioners) dominates consumption in tons but not in
the number of units. While they account for 87.8 per cent of known apparent consumption in
