3.1.3 Advantages of Utility Tunnels

Advantages of Utility Tunnels include:
 Easier accessibility to utilities for maintenance, upgrading and future expansion [b‐1]
 Environmental impacts are minimized: such as noise, vibration, dust, disruption to traffic and
services, street maintenance requirements [b‐1]

 Location information is made more accessible. Long‐term collaboration among stakeholders
often includes greater emphasis on making duct locations easily known [b‐3]

 Utility ducts greatly reduce the per unit of surface area occupied [b‐3]
