Establishing good procurement processes, and providing guidance on business
models and business case development in smart cities
Focusing on use‐cases that provide practical applications of smart‐city technol‐
ogy, such as street lighting, smart parking systems and smart refuse collection
Providing guidance on ways to harness citizen engagement in smart city initia‐
tives and ensure digital inclusivity
The UK good practice created through BSI's work will be offered for adoption interna‐
tionally through CEN/CENELEC, ISO and IEC as deemed appropriate. BSI will take a lead‐
ing role in European and international standards activities, actively working to align pro‐
grammes across standards bodies, building on existing knowledge and sharing UK initia‐
tives with other countries to create a global framework for smart cities knowledge. For
