Session AM1 - Implementation of Outside Plant
|
AM1 - 1
|
Development of outside plants in VNPT’s (Vietnam PT Corporation) network
Mr. Nghiem Phu Hoan
|
Current status of outside plants in Vietnam, the results achieved after network digitalisation period. Modernisation strategy and objectives of development towards 2010 for VNPT’s outside plants. Major solutions in terms of standardisation, technologies, designing and construction, international cooperation. Deployment of broadband access network in Vietnam.

AM1 - 2
|
Construction of optical networks in the access area
Mr. K. Hogari
[ Presentation ]
|
In order to provide many kinds of broadband services in a timely way, we must construct optical access networks immediately, economically and effectively for Fibre to the home (FTTH). To achieve this, the optical access network design is the important issue. I will present the construction of optical fibre access networks.

AM1 - 3 & 4
|
Overview on new installation techniques
Mr. F. Montalti
[ Presentation ]
|
This
presentation gives an overview on the issues to be faced when designing outside
plant for the access network such as costs, existing infrastructures to be
integrated in the new system, network planning, environmental impact, rights of
way, permissions of authorities, implementation and technologies to be used.
Moreover practical examples of realizations will show various installation
techniques, some new technologies that can be followed depending on the site conditions.
|
Session AM2 - Standardization in the Access Network
|
AM2 - 1
|
Outside plant standardization activities of VNPT
Mr. Tran Hong Quan
|
The importance of outside plants standardisation activities for VNPT is outlined pointing out the achivements and issues to be addressed. Main objectives and standardisation activities planned for VNPT’s outside plants upto 2010 are considered as well.
|
AM2 -2
|
ITU-T G.695 CWDM system interfaces: the black link
Mr. T. Hanson
[ Presentation ]
|
An overview of Q16/15 is presented followed by some background on the development of CWDM systems. Issues to CWDM systems and approaches to solving them are presented, including the black link as a new concept in the ITU-T 16/15 work. It has the possibility of facilitating third party ownership of the infrastructure.
|
AM2- 3
|
Optical fibre cable network maintenance
Mr. H. Izumita
[ Presentation ]
|
Trends in standardization of maintenance issues in accordance with the fundamental requirements for optical fibre maintenance and monitoring system, the maintenance band and the advanced system for point-to-multipoint and ring network topologies.
|
Session PM1 – New Trends in Access Technology and Multimedia Services
|
PM1 -1
|
International FTTH Deployments: Lessons learned around the globe, Broadband market overview
Mr. T. Hanson
[ Presentation ]
|
Broadband market trends and drivers and architectures are reviewed,
along with some economic forecasts and comparisons. Fiber to
the home (FTTH) deployment methods and issues are also reviewed.
|
PM1 - 2
|
GIGA Project - Brazilian Experimental High Speed Network
Mr. A. Reggiani
[ Presentation ]
|
Experimental High Speed Network of the Brazilian Telecom R&D Center
(CPqD) and the National Research Network (RNP) to develop and demonstrate
new technologies and services for IP/WDM networks. The scope is to
validate the prototypes developed. National and international industries
and operating companies are invited to validate their technologies
in this network.
|
PM1 - 3 & 4
|
Tutorial on Access Technologies
Mr. G. De Marchis
[ Presentation ]
|
Overview on copper, optical, power line and wireless access networks.
XDSL, PONs, PLC and Wireless solutions. Aspects of implementation,
use and, spectrum allocation.
|
Session PM2 – Regulatory issues in the Access Network
|
PM2 -1
|
Some matters concerning access network of new entrants
Mr. Tran Thanh Binh
|
To be provided
|
PM2- 2
|
Unbundling criteria in the Access Network
Mr. C. Lauria
[ Presentation ]
|
Unbundling of the
Access Network Elements created a new environment where various competing
companies install, operate and maintain networks in the same location. This is a
very complex task and some important issues have to be taken into account to
allow those operators to cohabitate without problems.
To guarantee a
stress-free environment some regulatory, legal and administrative criteria and
rules must be adopted, besides the proper technical solutions. It ensure the
network integrity, availability and quality of services, easy use of equipment,
interoperability and physical access security. Standardization is a fundamental
role played on a worldwide basis by ITU-T’s Outside Plant Study Group and the
main results on a Questionnaire issued by the are summarized in this
presentation.
