Generating Legacy-Compatible Data
The structure of the terrestrial BR IFIC database has changed starting from the BR IFIC 3042 (published on 18 March 2025). The changes are described under the section Changes from previous structure.
If you need to generate the database in the previous (legacy) format, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Understanding the Purpose of the Legacy Format
The legacy format ensures compatibility with older tools and systems that cannot directly work with the new database structure. By following this process, you will create a version of the database that maintains the expected format and structure.
Step 2: Opening the Conversion Tool
- Open TerRaQ on your computer and go to the Tools menu.
- Open External Tools.
- Launch the tool BR IFIC TerRaBase Format Converter.
Step 3: Starting the Conversion Process
- Click the Convert the currently connected BRIFIC database back to TerRaBase 2019 database format button.
- The tool will begin processing the data, adapting it to the legacy format.
Step 4: Troubleshooting Common Issues
- If the conversion fails: Ensure that the current BR IFIC database is correctly loaded and that there is enough storage space.
Conclusion
By following these steps, you can generate a legacy-format database from the current terrestrial BR IFIC database. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, please contact the support team terrasofthelp@itu.int.
