Background
In response to
WTDC Resolution 29 and following the advice of TDAG 07, BDT organized the first Global Industry Leaders’ Forum (GILF) on 10 March 2008, in conjunction with the Global Symposium of Regulators (GSR), 11-13 March 2008.
The agenda of the GILF 2008 covered regulatory and policy issues related to universal access/rural connectivity, emergency telecommunications and stimulating business investment and expansion. The Chairman of the GILF was Mr Sanjiv Ahuja, Chairman of Orange.
Objective
The objective of this annual meeting is to provide a high-level forum for CEOs and other industry leaders to convey their views and make proposals regarding key regulatory and policy issues affecting their businesses and the ICT/telecommunications industry more broadly, as part of an interactive exchange with regulators and policy-makers.
Outcomes
The outcomes of GILF 08 were presented on the first day of the GSR for the consideration of participants.
