All registered participants must finalize registration and pick up their badge at the ITU Montbrillant Building (Rue de Varembé) on Wednesday, November 24th, between 8:00-9:30am.

1. Venue

The 8th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators meeting will be held in:

Room 3 & 4
CICG building
17, rue de Varembé
1202 Geneva
Switzerland

Information about the meeting venue, including the map, is available at www.cicg.ch/en/spaces_cicg_access_map.php.

2. Visa

Citizens of a number of countries are required to obtain a visa in order to enter Switzerland. The visa must be requested and obtained from the office (embassy or consulate) representing Switzerland in your country or, if there is no such office in your country, from the one that is closest to the country of departure. If problems are encountered, the ITU can, at the official request of the administration you represent, approach the competent Swiss authorities in order to facilitate delivery of the visa.

To comply with the procedure applicable for ITU meetings held in Geneva, you are requested to provide the following information and documents upon the confirmation of registration request:

  • A letter (with official letterhead, address and the sender’s typed title and name), signed by the person responsible for the delegate’s entity and specifying the name of the delegate, his/her date of birth and passport number and the passport’s expiry date along with a clear and legible copy of his/her passport.
  • Registration confirmation number received together with a copy of the delegate’s duly completed registration form.

The above information and documents must be sent to the Registration Service (bdt-edrs@itu.int)

The processing of a request for visa support may take up to 15 days.

3. Travel and accommodation

Participants are expected to cover their own expenses and arrange for their own travel and accommodation. However, there will be limited funds available to finance participants from developing countries, see www.itu.int/ITU-D/ict/wict10/registration/index.html.

Information on accommodation/hotels in Geneva can be obtained at www.itu.int/travel/.

Delegates attending ITU conferences and meetings may benefit from special terms in a number of hotels in Geneva. The following procedure should be followed in order to simplify the reservation of hotel rooms on the special terms extended.

  • Delegates must reserve their room directly, i.e. not through an intermediary such as a travel agency or airline etc, at one of the hotels on this list.
  • Delegates must confirm the booking by mailing or faxing the confirmation form, available at www.itu.int/travel/BookingForm.html, which must give their credit card number by way of guarantee.

Bookings that are not guaranteed by a credit card will be held only until 18.00 hours.

When checking in, delegates may be required to provide evidence that they are attending an ITU meeting (badge or invitation letter).

The ITU has established this procedure, but it should be noted that it will not deal with reservations.

4. Transportation in Geneva

Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the airport, and to the meeting venue.

Hotels and residences in the canton of Geneva provide a free "Geneva Transport Card", valid for the duration of the stay.
