WSIS Forum 2023 poster
The 2023 edition of the WSIS Forum began with the hybrid week, which took place from 13 to 17 March 2023, and where over 2000 stakeholders participated on-site and remotely in over 200 sessions. The Forum then continued with virtual workshops held in April & May, providing WSIS Stakeholders further opportunities for information exchange, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships, taking into account the evolving information and knowledge societies. The virtual component will conclude with the WSIS Forum Closing Ceremony on Monday 29 May, 14:00–14:30 (UTC+02:00).

The WSIS Forum Closing Ceremony will serve as the finale of the months-long event, bringing together stakeholders to highlight the significant outcomes, initiatives, and commitments made during the Forum. This concluding session will emphasize the imperative of continued collaboration and partnerships among different stakeholders. It will mark the end of the WSIS Forum 2023, celebrating the momentum generated throughout the Forum and reinforcing the commitment to leveraging ICTs for the information and knowledge societies.

Round Table on Cyberlaw, Cybercrime & Cybersecurity

This round table will explore the latest developments and challenges in Cyberlaw, Cybercrime & Cybersecurity during the Coronavirus pandemic. As cybercrimes and cyber security breaches increase, many countries are enacting new cyber security laws and policies that affect all stakeholders. The emergence of Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Blockchains and their vulnerability to cyberattacks require addressing various legal, policy and regulatory issues related to these technologies. 

The transformative potential of data for learning | Driving the development of equitable and ethical education data ecosystems
Session 525 | Friday, 26 May 2023, 14:00–15:00 (UTC+02:00)

The session will bring together high-level multistakeholder speakers from the Broadband Commission to discuss how to harness the equitable and ethical use of data to improve learning, teaching, administration and management. The conversation will focus on how to find the balance between protecting learner privacy and promoting data innovation in pedagogy and practice. 

Sustainable Batteries - The building blocks of a circular economy
Session 494 | Friday, 26 May 2023, 15:00–16:00 (UTC+02:00)
This workshop will discuss how sustainable batteries are essential for a digital and circular economy, and how international standards can help with their design, recycling and disposal. It will also explain how to choose a battery for the ICT infrastructure based on ITU standards. The workshop aims to show how sustainable batteries can reduce energy consumption, environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions.
