The same burden was put on TELECOM 95. We decided to accept the challenge and to proactively transform the 5th edition of the World Book Fair on Telecommunications and Electronics, not only to take into consideration the major changes occurred in the publishing industry but also to set the route for new ways of exhibiting multimedia services and publications. Therefore, although it had been launched as a traditional exhibition on February 1993, Book Fair 95 will be right in step with this process, product and market evolution.
Traditional publishing has not been forgotten, though. The new topology of the Book Fair benefits from the enhanced space and light allowed by the construction of Hall 7. It was designed as the global village main square, allowing the visitors to circulate all around the central multimedia area, surmounted by The Tree of Knowledge representing ITU’s mission and catalytic role. The resulting distribution of volumes favours both free access to the Fair and priviledged contacts and discussion between exhibitors and visitors.
