ITU-T is organizing a two day Forum on "Implementation of decisions of
the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly-08 (WTSA-08)" in
Accra, Ghana, from 16 to 17 June 2009. This Forum will be hosted by
the Ministry of Communications, Ghana, at the M-Plaza Hotel, Accra, Ghana.
Objectives
The objectives of the forum will be to review the African experience in
WTSA-08 and to consider the activities put in place to implement those
Resolutions that are of interest to the region. Experiences will be shared
among the participants to check where more cooperation is needed and to
focus on the various activities establishing priorities and an action plan
to fully benefit from WTSA-08 Resolutions.
The forum will bring together leading representatives from governments,
regulators, industry, academia, operators and service providers in the
African region. A key purpose of the event is to raise awareness of
Resolutions addressing issues relevant to developing countries.
Sessions will additionally focus on topics under study in ITU-T Study Groups
such as IPTV, IPv6 deployment, migration to NGN, conformity and
interoperability testing, climate change, accessibility, IP, security
issues, human exposure to electromagnetic fields and emergency
communications. Moreover, the forum could also identify new standardization
areas.
