Speaker: Mr. Nobuo FUJII , NTT group, Japan
Title of Presentation:
WP3/4 has been working on “Telecommunications Information Models and Protocols”. Recommendations
developed are now widely used as foundations or specifications of real operation support systems.
The presentation focuses on Questions achievements and activities. Currently, three Questions 9,
10 and 11/4 are studied. Development of protocol neutral information models in common and application
specific areas by following a revised methodology is one of hot topics.

Session 2: Overview of other SDOs and Forums' work |
Speaker: Mr. H. Lam LAM, Lucent Technologies
Title of Presentation: Overview of SG15 Question 14’s Work Programs
As the level of functionality and intelligence in transport networks increases, the management and
control for these networks become more important. Management and control standards are required for
all types of transport equipment, e.g., optical, wireless, terrestrial, submarine, satellite, etc.,
defined in ITU-T Recommendations. Management and control requirements and information models for the
inter-working of standards-based transport systems/equipment and other equipment are essential to
realize the full value of modern transport networks.
Question 14 (Management and Control of Transport Systems and Equipment) of ITU-T Study Group 15 is
responsible for the study of transport equipment/systems management and control. This presentation
describes the scope and provides an overview of Q14/15’s current work programs.

Speaker: Mr. H. Kam LAM, Lucent Technologies
Title of Presentation: Overview of ATIS TMOC’s Work Programs
The Telecom Management and Operations Committee (TMOC) of ATIS (Alliance for Telecommunications
Industry Solutions) develops operations, administration, maintenance and provisioning standards,
and other documentation related to Operations Support System (OSS) and Network Element (NE)
functions and interfaces for communications networks – with an emphasis on standards development
related to U.S.A. communication networks in coordination with the development of international
standards.
This presentation describes the scope and provides an overview of TMOC’s current work programs,
with emphasis on those related to Next Generation Network (NGN).

Speaker: Mr. Hisashi Tada, NEC Corporation
Title of Presentation: TeleManagement Forum overview
Global communications industry players are racing to develop a next generation network consisting of
transport, access, and services to meet market demand. In addition, most of Service Providers have
pressure for prices in order to survive in this high competitive market. Therefore, telecom industry
has strong demand on how to be a lean operator. The presentation starts from market overviews. Then,
the presentation covers various activities in TM Forum which meet these market demands. In addition,
the presentation covers TM Forum’s technical programs, activities related to Next Generation Network,
