Council 2016: WeLead Special Event

Women Empowering Women in ICT at ITU Council

Following the success of the WeLead initiative at the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15) last November, ITU is pleased to announce that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will be organizing a mentorship program at the upcoming session of the ITU Council (May 25-June 2, 2016 in Geneva).

Through the mentorship program, mentors (experienced women with previous ITU Council or related expertise) will share their knowledge and help nurture new talent, while mentees (women who are newer to the ITU Council) will gain the skills and confidence they need to navigate the ITU environment and further their careers.

Kick-off meeting at the Council 2016

If you are interested in participating in the mentorship program or in learning more about the WeLead initiative, please join us for a kick-off meeting on the first day of the Council session, Wednesday, May 25, at 17:30 in Room E (ITU Varembé Building 1st floor).

What is WeLead?

Through a three-part approach of mentorship, networking, and advocacy, WeLead aims to foster an ICT community where women’s voices and views are represented equally in the leadership of international organizations and in the ranks of membership.

We work together to build mutually beneficial personal and professional relationships with fellow women working in the international telecommunications arena.
