Quality of Service related Recommendations

• Recommendation P.313 (03/07) - Transmission characteristics for cordless and mobile digital terminals
  

  This Recommendation provides audio performance requirements for portable digital cordless and mobile handsets, headset and speakerphone sets. The requirements apply to narrow-band systems (3.1 kHz) regardless of the coding algorithm used in the terminal. Associated test methods are also given.

  Requirements are specified for the major electro-acoustic performance parameters affecting audio quality, including sending and receiving levels, frequency responses, noise, sidetone, stability, echo path and delay. The requirements given in the Recommendation should ensure satisfactory service quality in a high percentage of installations under normal conditions.

  Changes over the previous ITU-T Rec. P.313 (2004) are as follows:​

  • Specifications for headset terminals have been added. These requirements are intended for mobile terminals which use headset.
    
  • Specifications for hands free terminals are recommended for handheld and desktop speakerphone set, and that for car mounted hands free terminal shall be removed to a separate recommendation P.CARHF.
    
  • The receiving masks for handset to use Type 3.2, Type 3.3 and Type 3.4 artificial ears are also recommended.
    

• Recommendation P.1100 (03/11) - Narrowband hands-free communication in motor vehicles
  

  This Recommendation describes performance requirements and test methods for narrowband hands-free communication in vehicles. The Recommendation covers - build in hands-free systems, - after market hands-free carkits, - corded headsets and - wireless headsets to be used in vehicles for communication while driving. The Recommendation addresses the test of complete systems as well as the subsystems hands-free microphone and the telephone with Short range wireless transmission link used to interconnect the hands-free system to the mobile network For testing the test setup and the recommended environmental conditions are described. The methods, the analysis and the performance parameters described in this Recommendation are based on test signals and test procedures as defined in ITU-T Recommendations P.50, P.501, P.502 and P.340, P.380.

• Recommendation Y.1543 (11/07) - Measurements in IP networks for inter-domain performance assessment
  

  This Recommendation specifies a set of IP performance parameters and methods of measurement applicable when assessing the quality of packet transfer on inter-domain paths. The methods anticipate that there will be multiple measurement systems, each conducting measurements of a segment of the customer to customer path, and recommend configurations that should produce useful results in this cooperative scenario. The methods rely on existing parameter definitions and encompass both Active and Passive measurement techniques.
