​​​​​​​​​Mari Carmen Aguayo Torres is a Telecommunication Engineer with nearly three decades of experience, having earned her PhD in 2001. She has been a University Professor since 2017 and currently serves as the Head of the Institute of Telecommunication Research (TELMA) at the University of Malaga. Over the past 25 years, she has taught across all university levels, consistently contributing to the academic community. Her research focuses on advancing 6G mobile networks, leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance future communication systems, including cell phones, satellites, vehicles, and the Internet of Things. She collaborates closely with both national and international companies, driving the transfer of research into practical applications. Mari Carmen is also the Head of the Hedy Lamarr Chair in Women and Technology at the University of Malaga. Supported by industry leaders such as Accenture, AirZone, Avanade, DEKRA, Ericsson, Google, Keysight, Metro Malaga, NTT Data, Premo, and TDK, the Lamarr Chair fosters initiatives to promote women's participation in technology and increase their representation in STEM fields. ​
