Mr. Oscar Robles is the CEO of LACNIC, the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry, an international non-government organization established in Uruguay for the administration of Internet Numbering Resources. Currently is the Number Resource Organization (NRO) chairman, the coordinating body for the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) that manage the distribution of Internet number resources in the world.
From 1995 to 2015 he worked for NIC Mexico, organization in charge of the internet domain name .MX. He is a co-founder of LACTLD - the Latin America and Caribbean Country Code Top-Level Domain Organization -, which groups the ccTLDs from the region. He is also co-founder of LACNIC and one of the .LAT promoters.
Robles has been working on Internet Governance, Domain Names and IP addresses matters since 1995. He has actively participated in the creation of ICANN, the organization who oversight the Global Domain Name System. Mr. Robles holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Systems Engineering, and a Masters degree in Information Technologies Management, from Monterrey Institute of Technology.
Oscar Robles es el Director Ejecutivo de LACNIC, el Registro De Direcciones de Internet para América Latina y el Caribe, organización no gubernamental internacional establecida en Uruguay responsable de la asignación y administración de los recursos de numeración de Internet para la región de América Latina y el Caribe. Actualmente es el Presidente de la Number Resource Organization (NRO), el órgano coordinador de los cinco Registros Regionales de Internet (RIRs) que administran los recursos de Internet en el mundo.
Trabajó durante 20 años en temas relacionados a los nombres de dominio en NIC Mexico, organización a cargo del dominio en Internet .MX, co fundó LACTLD – la organización de ccTLDs de América Latina y el Caribe. Es también co fundador de LACNIC y uno de los promotores del dominio en Internet .LAT.
Robles ha trabajado con temas de Gobernanza de Internet, Direcciones IP y Dominios en Internet desde 1995. Ha participado activamente en la creación de ICANN y diversas estructuras regionales relacionadas con Internet. Oscar Robles se graduó de Ingeniero en Sistemas Computacionales y de Maestro en Administración de Tecnologías de Información, ambas del Tecnológico de Monterrey, así como diversos cursos ejecutivos en Kellogg, Stanford y Universidad de Texas.
