Maria Feychting is Professor of Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. She is Vice Chair of ICNIRP since 2012, and a member of the ICNIRP main commission since 2008.
Her research is focused on environmental risk factors for chronic diseases, primarily cancer but also neurodegenerative diseases. She has been involved in epidemiologic research on non-ionizing radiation since 1987, covering both power frequency and radiofrequency electromagnetic fields. She is frequently involved as an expert in health risk assessments within the area of non-ionizing radiation commissioned by for example the WHO, Public Health England (AGNIR), and other national public authorities.
