John Smiciklas is currently Principal, Sustainability for MJRD Assessment Inc. which provides strategic sustainability consulting services to a number of global firms in areas of ICT, architecture, engineering and urban planning. Concurrently, John is also the Director, Energy and Environment for Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada) and leads the effort for the BOMA BEST sustainable building certification program. John’s prior experience includes work with the ITU as a consultant in helping to develop a number of papers on sustainability and the ICT sector (e.g. Toolkit on Environmental Sustainability for the ICT sector Sustainable Buildings, Review of Mobile Handset Eco-Rating Schemes among others); Director, Corporate Responsibility Programs (BlackBerry); Manager, Sustainable Business Practice (PricewaterhouseCoopers) and Lead Auditor / Consultant (KPMG). John holds a B.A.Sc., Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada , has completed the Business & Sustainability and Climate Change executive programs at the University of Cambridge, UK, and is a qualified ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 auditor.
