
Toshikazu Sakano is a Senior Research Engineer, and Supervisor in NTT Network Innovation Laboratories, Yokosuka, Japan. He received his B.E. on Communication Engineering, M.E. on Electronics Engineering and Ph.D. degrees all from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1985, 1987, and 1998. Since joining NTT R&D in 1987, he has been actively engaged in the R&D in several technical fields which include optical fiber communication, optical signal processing, super-high-definition imaging system, and photonic network architecture. From 2001 to 2008, he worked for NTT Communications Corp., where he was engaged in the grand design of NTT’s nationwide and global network. Since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11th in 2012, he has led a national R&D project on the resilient network architecture using movable container type network node as the project leader.
