JONES Paul

​Mr. Jones has been involved in research and development of protocols and system architectures in the area of multimedia communications, including voice, video, and data conferencing over IP networks, since 1996. In addition to architecture and software development activities within Cisco, he has actively participated in a number of standards and industry organizations, including the ITU-T, TIA, IETF, ETSI, H.323 Forum, SIP Forum, and the IMTC.  He has authored or edited a number of standards within those standards organizations, perhaps most notably ITU-T Recommendation H.323.  He has also been an active participant in accessibility-related work in the ITU-T and TIA, with a particular emphasis on technology needed for the deaf and hard of hearing.  He presently serves as a vice chair of ITU-T SG16; chair of ITU-T WP1/16, which focuses on multimedia systems, applications, and services; and Rapporteur ITU-T Q2/16, which is the Rapporteur group studying H.323 and the forthcoming Advanced Multimedia System (AMS / H.325).
