Session 1:  ITU Activities on Bridging the Standardization Gap (BSG)
 
This session will provide an overview of how developing countries can participate effectively in the standardization process in ITU.

Session 2: ICT Standardization Challenges

This session will consider the ICT standardization framework of countries in the region and analyze some of the challenges that countries face to implement international ICT standards and to participate in the international ICT standards development process.

​Session 3: Enhancing Standardization in Asia-Pacific Region

This session will be an interactive session and participants will be split in groups. Participants will brainstorm how ITU could help countries in Asia-Pacific region in addressing their standardization challenges.

Participants would discuss three questions: (a) What are the main ICT standardization challenges for countries the region? (b) How could countries in the region implement the national standardization secretariat? and (c) What assistance and collaboration from ITU would countries in the region require to implement the national standardization secretariat? The output from this session could indicate future actions for ITU in the region on ICT standardization.​

Session 4: Hot Standardization Topics

The session will cover the ICT standardization topics being discussed in ITU-T study groups and at the level of the ICT industry, including information about latest developments on ICT standards and how developing countries in the region could play a more effective role in the standardization process.

Session 5: Broadband infrastructure in the region
This session will discuss best practices in the deployment of broadband in the region and will focus in particular on innovations in deploying low cost broadband infrastructure in the developing countries.

Session 6: Telecommunications Services Tariffs

The objective of the session would be to understand and discuss the factors that should be taken into account in order to strike an appropriate balance between the goals of raising revenues and facilitating economic expansion in a broadband environment. This session will be conducted interactively with representatives of countries in the region to share their experience.
