Presentation abstract
Title: United 4 Smart Sustainable Cities: shaping the cities of today and tomorrow

Due to fact that the concept of smart sustainable cities represents one of the priorities for the UNECE region and the fact that ICTs can really support economic, environmental and socio-cultural development, UNECE and ITU, together with other organizations, are launching the global initiative “United for Smart Sustainable Cities”.

With the primary aim to advocate for public policy to encourage the use of ICTs to facilitate the transition to smart sustainable cities, the initiative will build on several activities clustered into three main pillars: connecting cities; setting the framework; and enhancing smart governance.

U4SSC will bring together leaders in their respective fields, including senior policymakers and industry leaders, city representatives, international organizations, academic and research institutes, and non-governmental organizations.
