Insights on QKD and QKDN certification: Current progress and challenges
Certification of QKD systems and QKDNs is crucial to validate their security, reliability, and compliance with established standards. As these systems become increasingly integrated into communication networks, robust certification processes also become increasingly essential. The certification process involves rigorous testing and evaluation against criteria such as the security of the quantum protocols, the resilience of the hardware against environmental variables and tampering, and the integrity of the entire system against potential cyber threats. Globally, standardization bodies are actively developing comprehensive guidelines and standards for QKD aiming to build trust among users and promote its widespread adoption. This session provided an overview of QKD certification, highlighting the current progress in certification activities and identifying any potential future standardization opportunities.
