Seongbok Baik is a research scientist in the Division of Network Infrastructure Innovation at KT Infra R&D Laboratory where he has been a research member since 1995. Seongbok completed his Ph.D. at Illinois Institute of Technology and his research interests lie in the areas of deep learning, network management, parallel processing, human computer interactions, ranging from theory to design to implementation. Achievements include application of deep learning technologies to the telcos’ network management tasks, research in fault management method for non-blocking networks of computing cloud system, unification of large scale network management systems, etc. |

Mérouane Debbah

Mérouane Debbah entered the Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay (France) in 1996 where he received his M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees respectively. He worked for Motorola Labs (Saclay, France) from 1999-2002 and the Vienna Research Center for Telecommunications (Vienna, Austria) until 2003. From 2003 to 2007, he joined the Mobile Communications department of the Institut Eurecom (Sophia Antipolis, France) as an Assistant Professor. Since 2007, he is a Full Professor at CentraleSupelec (Gif-sur-Yvette, France). From 2007 to 2014, he was the director of the Alcatel-Lucent Chair on Flexible Radio. Since 2014, he is Vice-President of the Huawei France R&D center and director of the Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab. His research interests lie in fundamental mathematics, algorithms, statistics, information & communication sciences research. He is an Associate Editor in Chief of the journal Random Matrix: Theory and Applications and was an associate and senior area editor for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing respectively in 2011-2013 and 2013-2014. Mérouane Debbah is a recipient of the ERC grant MORE (Advanced Mathematical Tools for Complex Network Engineering). He is a IEEE Fellow, a WWRF Fellow and a member of the academic senate of Paris-Saclay. He has managed 8 EU projects and more than 24 national and international projects. He received 17 best paper awards, among which the 2007 IEEE GLOBECOM best paper award, the Wi-Opt 2009 best paper award, the 2010 Newcom++ best paper award, the WUN CogCom Best Paper 2012 and 2013 Award, the 2014 WCNC best paper award, the 2015 ICC best paper award, the 2015 IEEE Communications Society Leonard G. Abraham Prize, the 2015 IEEE Communications Society Fred W. Dr Salih Ergut has more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunication domain in academia and industry. He has worked for vendor and operator companies in the sector including Ericsson Wireless (San Diego, CA), Ericsson Silicon Valley, Aware (Boston, MA), Nextwave (San Diego, CA), Turk Telekom Group (Istanbul, Turkey) and is currently working at Turkcell 5G R&D team in Istanbul, Turkey. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey), MS in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Northeastern University (Boston, MA), and PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from University of California San Diego (La Jolla, CA). David Gesbert

David Gesbert (IEEE Fellow) is Professor and Head of the Communication Systems Department, EURECOM. He obtained the Ph.D degree from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications, France, in 1997. From 1997 to 1999 he has been with the Information Systems Laboratory, Stanford University. He was then a founding engineer of Iospan Wireless Inc, a Stanford spin off pioneering MIMO-OFDM (now Intel). Before joining EURECOM in 2004, he has been with the Department of Informatics, University of Oslo as an adjunct professor. D. Gesbert has published about 270 papers and 25 patents, some of them winning the 20015 IEEE Best Tutorial Paper Award (Communications Society), 2012 SPS Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award, 2004 IEEE Best Tutorial Paper Award (Communications Society), 2005 Young Author Best Paper Award for Signal Proc. Society journals, and paper awards at conferences 2011 IEEE SPAWC, 2004 ACM MSWiM. He was a Technical Program Co-chair for ICC2017 in Paris and WSA2017 in Berlin. He was named in the 2014 Thomson-Reuters List of Highly Cited Researchers in Computer Science. Since 2015, he holds the ERC Advanced grant "PERFUME" on the topic of smart device Communications in future wireless networks. Since 2017 he is also a visiting Academic Master within the Program 111 at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications as well as a member in the Joint BUPT-EURECOM Open5G Lab. Finally D. Gesbert is a board member for the OpenAirInterface Software Alliance.

Deniz Gündüz received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Polytechnic University (now NYU Polytechnic) in 2004 and 2007, respectively. After his PhD, he served as a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University, and as a consulting assistant professor at Stanford University. He was a research associate at CTTC in Barcelona, Spain until September 2012, when he joined the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Imperial College London, UK, where he is currently a Reader in information theory and communications, and leading the Information Processing and Communications Lab. His research interests lie in the areas of communications and information theory, machine learning, and security and privacy in cyber-physical systems. Dr. Gündüz is an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications, and the IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking. He is the recipient of the IEEE Communications Society - Communication Theory Technical Committee (CTTC) Early Achievement Award in 2017, a Starting Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) in 2016, IEEE Communications Society Best Young Researcher Award for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa Region in 2014, Best Paper Award at the 2016 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), and the Best Student Paper Award at the 2007 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT). Ridha Hamila received the Master of Science, Licentiate of Technology with distinction, and Doctor of Technology degrees from Tampere University of Technology (TUT), Tampere, Finland, in 1996, 1999, and 2002, respectively. Dr. Ridha Hamila is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Qatar University, Qatar. From 1994 to 2002 he held various research and teaching positions at TUT within the Department of Information Technology, Finland. From 2002 to 2003 he was a System Specialist at Nokia research Center and Nokia Networks, Helsinki. From 2004 to 2009 he was with Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, UAE. Also, from 2004 to 2013 he was adjunct Professor at the Department of Communications Engineering, TUT. His current research interests include mobile and broadband wireless communication systems, Internet of Everything, and Machine Learning. In these areas, he has published over 150 journal and conference papers most of them in the peered reviewed IEEE publications, filed five US patents, and wrote numerous confidential industrial research reports. Dr. Hamila has been involved in several past and current industrial projects, Ooreedo, Qatar National Research Fund, Finnish Academy projects, EU research and education programs. He supervised a large number of under/graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. He organized many international workshops and conferences. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. |

Jakob Hoydis is a member of technical staff at Nokia Bell Labs, France, where he is investigating applications of deep learning for the physical layer. Previous to this position he was co-founder and CTO of the social network SPRAED and worked for Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs in Stuttgart, Germany. He received the diploma degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in electrical engineering and information technology from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and the Ph.D. degree from Supélec, Gif-sur-Yvette, France, in 2008 and 2012, respectively. His research interests are in the areas of machine learning, cloud computing, SDR, large random matrix theory, information theory, signal processing and their applications to wireless communications. Heiko Lehmann is Research and Innovation Director for Smart Energy at T-Labs, the central R&D unit of Deutsche Telekom. Trained a physicist, he received a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Humboldt University Berlin in 1992. Following postdoctoral academic work at Oxford University and the German National Society for Mathematics and Informatics, he joined the telematics subsidiary of Volkswagen Group in 1999 where he held the position of Innovation Manager. In 2006, Lehmann joined T-Labs where he took over responsibility for a portfolio of innovation projects. Recently, he is focusing on “Artificial Intelligence” functionality in the carrier context. His principal scientific and innovation interests are self-organization, complex systems and optimization in a wide variety of application areas. Lehmann was founding Thematic Area Leader for “Smart Energy” at the European Institute of Technology and Innovation in 2010 and renewed his engagement with the institution in 2014 to 2015. He is a member of several national and international industrial, academic and administrative bodies and discussion groups. Studied electrical engineering with specialization in control theory at the Wroclaw University of Technology and at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin). He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in 1998 and the Dr.-Ing. degree (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering in 2003, both from TU Berlin; the Habilitation degree (venialegendi) followed in 2006. Since 2015, he has been a Full Professor for network information theory with TU Berlin and the head of the Wireless Communications and Networks department. Prof. Stanczak has been involved in research and development activities in wireless communications since 1997. In 2004 and 2007, he was a Visiting Professor with RWTH Aachen University and in 2008, he was a Visiting Scientist with Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA. He is a co-author of two books and more than 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers in the area of information theory, wireless communications, signal processing and machine learning. Prof. Stanczak received research fellowships from the German Research Foundation and the Best Paper Award from the German Communication Engineering Society in 2014. He was a Co-chair of the 14th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC 2013).
