    BMZ’s [digital.global] Launch

The [digital.global] network was launched at a kick-off event for the strategic realignment of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development's (BMZ) digital policy.

BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin gave an opening address at the launch, alongside H.E. Minister Svenja Schulze, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ; Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, Chair of the Management Board, GIZ; and Stefan Wintels, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, KfW.

She highlighted the importance of digital gender equality; nurturing digital public goods and infrastructure; and finding ways to ''green'' our digital transformation. Ms Bogdan-Martin particularly thanked Minister Schulze for her support in the area of digital gender equality, and recognized Germany's continued support to the EQUALS ''Her Digital Skills'' initiative, in light of the announcement that the e-learning platform Atingi will join the initiative.

Additionally, she underlined the important role that women role models can play, and proposed collaboration to create a Global Network of Women Ministers in the digital sphere.

Ms Bogdan-Martin applauded BMZ's efforts to strategically realign its digital policy for a rapidly evolving digital era, and underscored the importance of partnerships towards inclusive and sustainable digital transformation.
