BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin participated in a roundtable discussion jointly organized by ITU, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum and GSMA on ''Harnessing Digital Opportunities for People and the Planet in the New Normal: How to Unlock & Finance Sustainable Digital Growth?''
When asked ''how to ensure that no one will be left behind in the global digital transformation?'', Ms Bogdan-Martin described four factors necessary: (1) political will (2) sustained and innovative investment (3) strategic partnerships and (4) a mechanism to track progress in a transparent, holistic manner.
ITU's Partner2Connect Digital Coalition will help further this goal, as it serves as a platform for partnerships and will foster a holistic approach to leverage digital for development, especially in the hardest-to-connect communities. The platform will allow parties to come together, galvanize resources, pledge commitments, and monitor progress in a collective manner.
Ms Bogdan-Martin invited all world leaders to join, to drive meaningful connectivity worldwide, together.
