    BEREC-EaPeReg-EMERG-Regulatel Summit

BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin delivered a keynote address at the BEREC-EaPeReg-EMERG-Regulatel Summit.

She observed that “the spirit of collaboration that brings together the regulatory fraternity at this Summit is encouraging, and sets the example for the direction we need to move forward in."

A window of opportunity to fast-track global digital development has been opened up by global attention on the critical role of connectivity. To make use of this, Ms Bogdan-Martin encouraged the adaptation of policy and regulatory frameworks to the 'new normal', and for regulators and policy makers to work hand-in-hand, across economic sectors and across borders.

''To play our part in connecting the world by 2030, we need to work over and across traditional siloes, and make sure that the foundations for connectivity are in place,'' she said.

Ms Bogdan-Martin noted that this will be pivotal moment for all of us who are responsible to connect the unconnected, and stated ''It's time to change course on digital. 3.7 billion people are counting on us.''
