BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin participated in the latest Road to Addis series event, ''Lead2Connect : Redefining Leadership and its Role in Connecting the Unconnected.''
Held in conjunction with ITU's Global Symposium of Regulators (GSR) 2021, this event featured distinguished global leaders who provided their views on the leadership necessary to bring the power and potential of connectivity to all populations worldwide.
Panelists who shared inspiring insights included: H.E. Rula Ghani, First Lady of Afghanistan; Mr Badri Younes, Deputy Associate Administrator for Space Communications and Navigation National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA; H.E. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Republic of Ghana; Dr R.S. Sharma, Former Chairman, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India; Mr Stephen Spengler, ESOA Chairman and CEO, Intelsat; Ms Lady Mariéme Jamme, Founder and CEO of iamtheCODE, Pioneer in System change, Technologist and SDG GoalKeeper, Member of Generation Connect Visionaries Board; Ms Yolanda Cuba, MTN Group Vice President for the Southern and East African (SEA) MTN markets. Youth Envoys who shared encouraging vision included: Ms Sofia Valle; Mr Ali Al-Toblani; and Mr Francis Xavier Inyangat.
In her welcoming remarks, Ms Bogdan-Martin stated ''We look towards leaders – from all walks of life – to provide the vision and guidance that will mobilize global will and direct action towards achieving meaningful, universal connectivity.''
She reaffirmed her commitment as Director of ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau to lead change and join forces with other leaders to ensure that ''leaving no-one behind'' means ''leaving no-offline.''
