BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin gave opening remarks, as ITU and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (FCDO) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on ''Promoting effective regulation, greater investment and innovative models for school connectivity in underserved communities and for broader digital inclusion in Digital Access Programme'' (DAP).
Ms Bogdan-Martin conveyed ITU's enthusiasm to embark on this partnership. She said, ''Our mission remains anchored on collaboration, cooperation, and sharing with win-win arrangements that benefit government, industry, and users. I am thrilled that these values very much resonate with FCDO's approach, and our broader goal of digital inclusion.''
Reaffirming BDT's commitment to making the project a success, which will be delivered through the Giga initiative, Ms Bogdan-Martin expressed that the partnership with FCDO holds much promise to transform the lives of many that remain unconnected today, particularly in underserved communities.
