On 12 February, the Director announced the appointment of Mr. Yushi Torigoe as Deputy to the Director, and Chief of Administration & Operations Coordination Department. Mr. Torigoe, who worked closely with former ITU Secretary General, Mr. Yoshio Utsumi, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. Upon leaving ITU, Mr. Torigoe worked in different capacities such as Deputy Director, Radio Policy Division at the Ministry of Public Management & Home Affairs, Director of International Organizations Office, in the Ministry of Internal Affairs & Communications and most recently Director of Planning & International Affairs for ARIB (Association of Radio Industries & Businesses). Mr. Torigoe succeeds Mr. Philippe Metzger, who left ITU at the end of 2013.
