Medina Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hammamet, Tunisia from 14 to 16 November 2017 at the following address:

WTIS-17 is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Tunisia represented by its Ministry of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy.
The Medina Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in the famous modern resort of the Medina Mediterranea, a superb reconstruction of a traditional Arabian city, which also houses souks, restaurants, the Diar Lemdina Hotel and the Carthage Land theme park.
The Centre offers a variety of meeting rooms equipped with up-to-date audiovisual equipment and wireless Internet access. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops.
2. REGISTRATION
Registration for WTIS-17 will be carried out exclusively online. To register, please complete the
WTIS-17 online registration form. Registered participants will receive a Confirmation of Registration letter by e-mail from ITU.
Participants are required to present their Confirmation of Registration letter to the Registration Desk at the Medina Convention and Exhibition Centre, together with an official identity document bearing a photograph (e.g. passport or driving licence) in order to obtain their event badge. This badge must be worn at all times when entering or when inside the WTIS-17 premises.
3. VISA REQUIREMENTS
Law No. 1968-198 of 22 June 1968 amended in 1992 regulates the conditions of entry and residence of foreigners in Tunisia
A valid passport is required to enter Tunisia. A visa is also required, unless you come from a visa-exempt country according to Tunisia’s visa policy. Each participant is therefore requested to consult the Tunisian Embassy in his/her country of origin to obtain information on the visa requirements applicable in their case. The visa must be stamped in a valid passport.

Note:
• Australian and South African nationals holding ordinary passports can obtain visas at the Tunisian border posts.
• Nationals of the countries of the former USSR (with the exception of Armenia), Poland, the Czech Republic,
Slovakia and Hungary shall be exempt from the visa requirement for entry into Tunisia when they go there as
part of an organized tour.
Identity documents required to return to Tunisia.
Tourist trip
French, Italian, Belgian, Swiss, German and Dutch citizens are allowed to enter Tunisia by presenting a valid national identity card in the case of an organized tourist trip. They must present a reservation document in a Tunisian hotel establishment and a return trip ticket and have a sufficient amount of foreign currency to cover their expenses during their stay.
All other nationalities must present an entry visa.
Individual travel not part of an organized trip French citizens wishing to return to Tunisia outside the framework of a tourist trip organized for a stay of less than or equal to 3 months must present a valid French identity card and a valid French passport. For any stay exceeding 3 months, you must apply for a visa and a residence card with the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior.
Canadian citizens can stay in Tunisia for up to 3 months without a visa, but must present a valid passport
Note: The visa files of the nationals of countries not having a diplomatic representation with Tunisia: requesters can consult the Tunisian consular representation in the countries closest to the country of the visa applicant, and where necessary the visa files are processed at the entrance case by case.
Concerning the 15th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS-17), participants from countries not having diplomatic representation with Tunisia could obtain their visa at the entry without a problem. A valid travel document (passport) and the confirmation of registration for attending the symposium are required.
4. ACCOMMODATION
Official hotels for WTIS-17 are listed in the table below. Participants should book their own hotel accommodation directly using the telephone numbers or e-mail addresses provided in this table. When checking in, participants may be required to provide evidence that they are on mission to attend WTIS-17. In this case, please show your Confirmation of Registration letter from ITU.

5. AIR TRANSFERS
The host country will provide transport for all WTIS-17 participants upon arrival at the Tunis Carthage International Airport to the ''official hotels", as well as transport from these hotels to the Convention Centre and back. Transport will also be provided to participants from the official hotels back to the airport on the date of their departure after WTIS-17.
To facilitate the necessary arrangements, please fill-in the participant form and send it by e-mail to Ms Sonia Gharsallah (sonia.gharsallah@tunisia.gov.tn). Transport can’t be guaranteed if completed form is not submitted by 8 November 2017.
6. ELECTRICITY
AC power voltage in Tunisia is 230V and the frequency is ~50Hz. Types C and E electrical outlets are used in Tunisia. As shown below, the Type C electrical plug, popularly known as the “Europlug”, is a two-pin unearthed plug. The Type E electrical plug is identified by two round pins spaced 19mm apart, with a hole for the socket's male grounding pin.

7. CURRENCY
The official currency of Tunisia is the Tunisian Dinar (TND). Visa, American Express, Access/MasterCard, and Diners Club cards can also be used. Banks are open from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The exchange rates in Tunisia in mid-August 2017 were as follows:
USD 1 = 2.41 TND (approximately)
EUR 1 = 2.83 TND (approximately)
8. WEATHER
Temperatures in November will vary between 17°C and 22°C (63°F and 72°F).
9. SECURITY AND ACCESS
Access to the Medina Convention and Exhibition Centre will be strictly limited to persons wearing a WTIS-17 event badge with photograph. All delegates, observers, media representatives, ITU and Host Country secretariat staff, and all technical and support staff of the Medina Convention and Exhibition Centre are advised that they will only be admitted to the premises upon presentation of this badge.
All participants will be security screened at access points to the Medina Convention and Exhibition Centre, similar to security controls found at airports. All participants will also have their WTIS-17 event badge scanned at these access points.
It is recommended that participants coming to the Medina Convention and Exhibition Centre limit their hand luggage to one small briefcase. Anything larger than cabin luggage will not be permitted inside the premises.
Participants are reminded to safeguard their personal belongings at all times while in the premises and their hotel areas.
10. MEDICAL SERVICES
Emergency and urgency medical assistance will be provided free of charge within the WTIS-17 premises. Nevertheless it is advised to have international travel insurance to cover any medical expenses in case of medical treatment.
