The 9th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI) took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 16-17 October 2018. The meeting was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by ITU. The EGTI meeting was held back-to-back with the 6th Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH), which also took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 17-19 October 2018.

EGTI meetings are open to all ITU members and experts in the field of ICT statistics and data collection.

The objective of the 9th EGTI meeting was to examine the contributions received from members of the EGTI online discussion forum over the current working period, with a view to finalizing the items under discussion. The outcome of the discussions will be presented at the 16th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS).

The main statistical topics that were covered during the EGTI meeting included indicators on wireless spectrum allocation; indicators on quality of service; 5G related indicators; indicators on IoT availability; and indicators on convergence (e.g. fixed-mobile bundles). Experience was shared on OTT indicators and on cybersecurity indicators from the supply side.

In addition, the EGTI and EGH meetings featured a joint session covering topics of mutual interest for EGTI and EGH, such as experience sharing in national coordination for the production of ICT statistics.

The documents concerning the meeting, including the agenda, the logistical information and the preparatory documents for the discussions are available in the EGTI online forum at: https://www.itu.int/net4/ITU-D/ExpertGroup/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=33
