The Regional Initiative Accelerator Workshop on Strengthening the Emergency Preparedness Capabilities in the Western Balkan Countries was organized by the ITU and hosted with the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services of Montenegro (EKIP).
The three-day workshop was dedicated to accelerating the implementation of the ITU Europe Regional Initiative ‘EUR2: Digital Transformation for Resilience’ with a focus on Emergency Telecommunications in the Western Balkans. This event convened key stakeholders to explore critical trends and opportunities shaping the region's future, their implications, and the potential impact on digital transformation and emergency telecommunications.
Through collaborative discussions and solution design, the invited stakeholders:
- Identified and analyzed emerging signals, trends, blind spots, and opportunities critical to enhancing digital resilience and emergency response in the Western Balkans;
- Developed a regional blueprint that incorporates the changing environment, fosters collaboration across countries, and drives collective progress within the Western Balkan region;
- Defined an actionable partnership manifesto that unites stakeholders under a common goal and vision for digital transformation and resilience;
- Outlined the ways in which the regional blueprint could be tailored to each country’s unique necessities and capabilities, ensuring effective implementation at the national level.
This workshop represented a significant opportunity for stakeholders to come together, share insights, and co-create customisable initiatives to achieve tangible outcomes which will enhance the region's resilience and digital transformation efforts.
