The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will organize a masterclass as a pre-event of the 20th Asia Media Summit (AMS) 2025. AMS 2025 is organized by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 21- 25 July 2025.
Target
The event would attempt to bring together participants from Asia and the Pacific working in national broadcasting, disaster management, ICT industry, academia and telecom sector. The sessions will focus on the vital role of broadcasting in Early Warning Systems (EWS), emphasizing its ability to deliver timely and accurate hazard alerts to the public. Event will highlight how broadcasting—both traditional and modern—serves as a critical component of Early Warning Systems (EWS), enhancing community preparedness and disaster response. By leveraging advancement in technologies, broadcasters can help save lives and mitigate the impact of disasters.
Fellowships
ITU is pleased to provide one full fellowship per participant from eligible country from Asia-Pacific, subject to availability of funds. The full fellowships will cover the air ticket (one return economy class ticket by the most direct/economical route from the country of origin to the meeting venue), and appropriate daily subsistence allowance intended to cover accommodation, meals and incidental expenses. Member States shall cover the remainder of the cost of the participation. Fellowship application can be submitted through email at fellowships@itu.int on 27 May 2025 at the very latest. Registration to the event is mandatory for any fellowship application.
