In the face of strong natural hazards and pandemics, such as the global COVID-19, and as in any other emergency, the speed and efficiency of a response is proportional to the level of preparedness. To help countries be better prepared for disaster response, ITU is developing this event that provides the opportunity to learn how to increase resilience, improve national coordination for disaster management among different stakeholders and deliver early warnings to communities at risk in a timely manner.

This 2-days online workshop highlighted the benefits of using the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP), which is a standard for exchanging all-hazard emergency alerts and public warnings over all kinds of ICT networks, provide an opportunity to learn the advantages of developing Table-Top exercises, and raise awareness on the importance of the Tampere Convention.

This online workshop targeted policy makers from ministries of ICTs, ICTs regulators, disaster management organizations, red crescent and red cross organizations, private sector entities, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations and other participants from humanitarian organizations, as well as academic institutions and media.
