ABOUT

The ITU Policy and Economics Colloquium IPEC-23 took place physically in San José, Costa Rica from 25 to 29 September 2023. The event was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with the Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones de Costa Rica (SUTEL) and the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT).​

PURPOSE

The Regional Economic Dialogue (RED-AMS) focused this year, on opportunities and challenges to achieve digital transformation in the Americas Region; fixed and mobile networks as a means to promoting affordable and adoption; and advances in regulatory costing and pricing strategies – practices in the Americas region.

The Business Planning for Infrastructure Development applying 5G Networks Training course offered ICT, policymakers, regulators and stakeholders a practical approach for the accurate economic evaluation of broadband infrastructure installation and deployment plans in urban and rural areas using up to 5G networks technologies.  During the IPEC a Masterclass and projects elaborated during this course was presented.
