Yame Nkgowe is the Founder, Sustainable Cities Africa, a Botswana based, Africa focused Sustainable City Strategy Service Firm promoting an African context to integrated measurable urban development frameworks, working in strategic technical partnership with SIMR Limited UK (Smart City & Innovation Strategy Advisors to Digital Greenwich & Smart Cities UK) to

• Facilitate co-created Sustainable City Strategies (including city action plan - with embedded climate action frameworks & digital green standards); AND
• Developing an Industry Sustainable City Cluster (multidisciplinary & transdisciplinary venture building & demonstrators of home grown & replication of partnership driven proven solutions); AND
• Initiate & grow ecosystem building initiatives / venture building initiatives & partnership led pilots / projects aligned to systems changing urban resilience & sustainability (including climate finance mechanisms & TA facilities);

Thus gearing evidence of action towards coupling clear climate ambition & measurable action in African towns & cities as a driver of converged locally led digital green economic regeneration & competitiveness aligned to accelerating action on the global compact.

Yame is focused on sustainability practice, ecosystem building, nurturing linkages to appropriate investment mechanisms, and various structured mentorship engagements supporting entrepreneurially driven individuals through his strong business management acumen, gained over 18 years (11 as a Business / Service Manager, and 7 as an entrepreneur) leading growth oriented professional services oriented entities through development, operation, and optimization. He volunteers his time in various pan-African initiatives such as African Circular Economy Network - Botswana Country Representative; Catalyst 2030 as part of the Africa Chapter Core Leadership Team; Ashoka Foundation - Botswana Nominator for the Ashoka Fellowship, and the ICLEI Africa Circular African Cities Community of Practice.
