WEEE Policy Support for the Gambia

​​In the framework of the joint project with UN Environment (UNEP) - titled “Implementing the EPR Concept in Policies and Regulations for the Sound Management of E-waste" -  ITU, in collaboration with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority of The Gambia (PURA) and the National Environment Agency (NEA), is currently supporting the Government in developing a National E-waste Strategy in The Gambia.

Key national stakeholders, from both the public and private sector, have been invited to the consultation workshops organized by ITU and partners with the scope to define strategies relating to the roles, duties and responsibilities of actors involved in the e-waste value chain. A preliminary draft of the National E-waste Strategy is being developed, following the feedback received during the national consultations. The next steps in The Gambia will be to finalize and validate the National E-waste Strategy.
