ITU Regional Workshop for CIS on the Role of ICT in Saving Lives: Climate Change and Emergency Telecommunications, Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyz Republic, 19-21 August 2013​​ ​

​​The World Telecommunication Development Conference that was held in Hyderabad, India in 2010 (WTDC-2010), identified natural disasters as a major threat to socio-economic development and adopted emergency telecommunications as one of the regional Initiatives for almost all the regions including in the CIS region. In light of this, the International Telecommunication Union and the with the Institute of Electronic and Telecommunications at the Kyrgyz State Technical University, are jointly organizing an event, "Multi-stakeholder Forum on the Role of Telecommunications/ICT in Disaster Management and Climate Change", to be held in Issyk Kul, Kyrgyz Republic, from 19 to 21 August 2013. This regional event will bring together national agencies involved in disaster risk reduction and disaster management, private telecommunication entities, United Nations Agencies, and Non-Governmental Organizations to share knowledge, discuss and exchange views on how to assist countries and communities to mitigate, respond and cope with natural disasters. ​​ ​

The Workshop  will be held in Raduga Vacation Centre, located in the settlement of Sara Oy, in the Northern shore of Issyk Kul lake, it is about 230 km from Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Workshop participants will be accommodated at this vacation centre.
