​​Ingrid Sánchez-Tapia, Education Specialist of UNICEF

Ingrid Sánchez-Tapia is UNICEF's Education Specialist on Gender Equality in Education and Secondary Education at the global level. ​Ingrid leads efforts to strengthen programing on gender equality in education across UNICEF's education programs, including STEM for girls, gender-responsive life skills, and digital skills. Ingrid also provides technical advice for the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage and the UNICEF-WFP-UNFPA programme Breaking Barriers to Girls' Education. Ingrid has been a professor of STEM education in various countries: the United States, Colombia, Panama, and Chile. Her research focused on designing learning environments that support adolescents to develop STEM-related knowledge and skills, with an emphasis on marginalized groups because of ethnicity, language, and gender. For over a decade Ingrid supported Ministries of Education in Latin America in science curricular reform and national-level initiatives on science teachers' professional development. Her latest book showcases research on science education around the world.
